Just got back from picking up [livejournal.com profile] x_rahne at the airport. She's awfully nice and I think she'll get along just fine here. *waves*
(I did show her how to use this system and helped her set up her account on the server, but I don't know when she'll get around to it...)

[livejournal.com profile] x_beast, sorry I missed physics for the pickup. Hope it was nothing too fascinating. We're still just doing quantum and the energy well, right?

Anyways, plans for the picnic are coming along just swimingly. Remember to let us know if you're coming so we can plan accordingly.

Got to run. Haven't got any handy excuse to miss my afternoon classes. *g*

Are you implying, dear Kitty, that quantum mechanics and the energy well are anything save fascinating?

No, I'm fairly certain you didn't miss anything you don't already know, but just to be safe, be sure to glance at someone's notes before coming to the next class. If you need anything in particular explained, you know where I hole up habitually, doing my best impression of a superintelligent cave bear.

Being a physics instructor at a school for mutants is interesting. I'm teaching everyone the rules they're just going to break anyway.

*g* of course I'm not implying any such thing... Energy wells are fascinating, and confusing, given that particles can be places they can't be and... well, yeah. I can get the notes, I'm sure...

About that. I had a question. Um... why do I sometimes fall through the floor when I phase and sometimes not? It doesn't make sense to me.

*blushes and waves back* Thank you. I hope I will.

And thank you again for showing me how to use the system. I hope I've got it right.

Oh! See, I've used the picture of Loch Leven I promised I'd show you.

*looks at the other comments* Particles can be where they can't be?

The picnic sounds like a delightful idea, especially since we can be fairly sure the weather will hold, though I'd hate to think what havoc Ororo might wreak on the ecosystem if we tried to do this every weekend.

I think I shall break out my tennis whites (yes, dears, they're completely different white dresses; the skirts are much shorter), and see if anyone's up for a tournament. I warn you now, I can be quite aggressive.

Oh, can't chat, must away...

*nod* the picture's really pretty.

And yeah, they can. It's confusing and would take me a while to explain, but if you really want I can try. Have you ever heard of Schrodinger's Cat?

I've heard of cations....

Somehow I'm thinking that's not it.

No, not really. :)

Essentially, in an energy well there's walls which normal material can't go into, cause they're walls. But signle particles have some really funny rules and there's a certain probability that when you go to look you'll find the particle in the wall, in a forbidden energy state. It'll be somewhere that it just can't be, according to normal logic.

It's weird...
